UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSION

Degree-seeking students

:: Vestibular (entrance examination) and other selection processes

The Vestibular is the university entrance examination. It ranks applicants based on their performance and qualifies them for admission to the undergraduate programs. Foreign nationals can also take the exam, which is held annually.

In addition to the Vestibular, UFSC offers a special admission selection process for refugees, low-income asylum seekers and humanitarian visa holders, and specific selection processes for distance learning degrees and other targeted programs.

Starting in 2025, UFSC also offers a selection process for unfilled places based on applicants’ upper secondary school transcripts.

For further information about all selection processes, visit COPERVE/UFSC website.

:: Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Graduação (PEC-G)

Officially created in 1965, the PEC-G program provides students from countries with which Brazil has educational, cultural or scientific and technological agreements the opportunity to pursue their undergraduate studies at Brazilian Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The program is managed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE) and the Ministry of Education (MEC). Applications are submitted directly through Brazilian embassies and consulates in participating countries. For further information, visit SINTER website and PEC-G official website.

:: Transfer and Returning

Each semester, in accordance with the academic calendar, the Student Administration Department (DAE) publishes a call for applications indicating the number of seats available in each undergraduate program for external transfer (for students coming from other higher education institutions, including foreign institutions), returning (for students who already graduated from UFSC or another institution and wish to pursue a new degree) and internal transfer and readmission (for students changing degree programs at UFSC or returning to a program they were previously enrolled in). For further information, visit DAE/UFSC website.

:: Unified Selection System (Sisu/MEC)

The Unified Selection System (Sisu) is a program established by the Ministry of Education (MEC) through which Brazilian public higher education institutions offer seats to applicants according to their performance in the National Secondary School Examination (Enem). For further information, visit Sisu/MEC website.

Undergraduate exchange program (incoming)

International undergraduate students from universities that have cooperation agreements with UFSC may study at UFSC for one or two semesters through an exchange program. For further information and procedures, visit SINTER website.

Internships

International undergraduate students from universities that have cooperation agreements with UFSC may carry out internships at UFSC, following the procedures set out on SINTER website.

GRADUATE ADMISSION

Degree-seeking students and exchange students

Graduate Programs at UFSC set their own admission procedures for international students who wish to pursue a master’s or doctoral degree, participate in an exchange program or carry out internships. Therefore, you should contact the Program of your interest to check its specific application requirements. You can find the list of all graduate programs offered at UFSC and their respective websites at this link: http://en.ufsc.br/graduate-programs/.

UFSC also offers the possibility of co-supervision agreements, wich allows students from UFSC and foreign partner institutions to pursue graduate studies and obtain a double degree from both universities, provided that they spend at least 6 months in each university. For further information, visit PROPG/UFSC website.

:: Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Pós-Graduação (PEC-G)

The Programa de Estudantes-Convênio de Pós-Graduação (PEC-PG) is a partnership between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Brazil (MRE), the Brazilian Federal Agency for Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES) and the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq). PEC-PG offers foreign citizens from participating countries the opportunity to pursue full graduate degrees or participate in short-term exchange programs (doctoral sandwich modality) at educational and research institutions in Brazil. For further information, visit PEC-PG official website.
