Information Science
The Information Science program aims to train entrepreneurial professionals capable of identifying, developing and implementing innovative, integrated and collaborative solutions – human and non-human – in various technical formats, in order to solve real information problems.
The program’s curriculum is focused on the latest emerging technologies and includes courses in entrepreneurship, project management, linked data, social network analysis, information marketing, innovation management, social media, web scenarios and strategic information management. The program emphasizes entrepreneurship and innovation and includes an internship integrated with a final project, which is aimed at the development of information products.
During the program, students will acquire knowledge on computer programming focused on retrieval, storage and processing of data (Information Retrieval, Database and Science/Data Analysis); innovation management; identification of technological and analog resources to meet informational needs; creative, dynamic and effective solutions to problems in information management; quality of information interfaces and interactions; and processing, visualization and interpretation of information for business management in general.
Graduates will become experts in both the technical and human aspects of various information fields. They can manage information in private and public companies, information and knowledge-based organizations, documentation centers, content portals, and data banks and databases. Additionally, Information Science professionals can contribute to information and innovation management in technology companies and startups.
