Social Anthropology
Objective: The Graduate Program in Social Anthropology (PPGAS) aims to:
- produce knowledge about the sociocultural reality and contribute to the consolidation and renewal of the field of Anthropology in Brazil;
- prepare qualified faculty and researchers to work in teaching and research in Brazil and abroad;
- contribute to undergraduate anthropology education at UFSC—particularly in the Anthropology, Museum Studies, and Social Sciences programs—and to policies that promote socioeconomic, ethnic and racial inclusion;
- train professionals to work in areas of Anthropology beyond academia, such as providing advisory services to governmental and non-governmental organizations and supporting the development of public policies;
- establish partnerships and exchanges with national and international academic institutions, fostering the international integration of Brazilian Anthropology.
Type: Academic master’s degree and doctoral degree
Area of Concentration: Social Anthropology.

– Kinship, generation, gender and sexuality;
– Policies, micropolitics and contemporary movements;
– Religion, cosmology and ritual;
– Health, corporeality and subjectivation.
