Textile Engineering – Blumenau Campus

20/03/2020 12:36

The Textile Engineering program prepares graduates to work across the entire textile industry production chain, including areas such as spinning, weaving, knitting, nonwovens, and textile processing. They are equipped to handle chemical processes like dyeing, printing, and finishing treatments, enabling the development of specialized products, such as smart fabrics. A key focus is on creating products that meet consumer demands and offer a competitive edge in the market.

Textile Engineering graduates can pursue careers in textile manufacturing, raw material suppliers, packaging, equipment and additive industries, service companies, as well as government and educational institutions. Their roles may involve production and process management, quality assurance, research and development, project management, and sales and marketing within the textile sector.

Beyond traditional applications like clothing and home textiles, Textile Engineering also extends to the production of technical textiles. These include medical textiles like hospital linens, surgical products, hygiene products, and artificial fabrics for body reconstruction; industrial textiles, such as separation filters; and textiles for civil engineering applications, including protective and insulation blankets.

The UFSC Textile Engineering program offers a comprehensive education not only in engineering, physics, and mathematics, but also in chemistry and materials science, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and other areas relevant to the textile production process. The curriculum also covers topics related to environmental sustainability, management, economics, entrepreneurship, and innovation.
