The Textile Engineer is able to work in the entire production chain of the textile industry, in the areas of spinning, weaving, knitting, nonwovens, as well as in textile processing, in the chemical processes of dyeing, printing, and in finishing treatments for the development of differentiated products, such as smart fabrics. They have the constant challenge to develop products that meet the consumers’ demands and requirements and that has market differential.

Textile Engineering graduates can work in textile industries, industries of inputs for processes and products (raw materials, packaging, equipment and additives), service companies, government and education agencies and companies, where they can perform activities in the areas of production and processes, quality assurance, research and development, projects, sales and marketing of the textile sector.

Besides clothing and bed, bath and table linens, textile engineering is also engaged in the production of technical textiles for medical application, such as hospital textiles, surgical and hygiene products, and artificial fabrics used for body reconstitution; for industrial application, such as separation filters; and for application in civil engineering, including protection and insulation blankets, among others.

UFSC Textile Engineering Program offers a broad training not only in the realm of engineering, physics and mathematics, but also in the areas of chemistry and materials, biotechnology, nanotechnology, and other subjects that address issues of the textile production process, including those in the fields of environment, management, economy, entrepreneurship and innovation.
